Sealants
Sealants are sometimes known as ‘mastics’ or ‘silicone sealants’ and are used to seal areas that need to be airproofed or waterproofed. Sealants are therefore very commonly used domestically and commercial projects involving flooring, showers, wet rooms, windowsills, bricks, and roofing.

What is sealant made from?
Sealants come in a vast variety of different materials that are individually best suited to specific jobs. Typically, most sealants are silicone based though there are other sealants made from polyurethane, polysulfide, and water-based sealants.
What colour sealant can I get?
Our sealant range covers a broad spectrum of colours so that you can choose the highest-quality sealant that has the best-looking appearance for your job. Colour ranges tend to include white, brown, black, grey, brick red, mahogany and translucent, but there’s also plenty of other colours that might provide an extra special finish to a job including caramel, bronze and even brushed steel.
How do I apply sealant?
- The most common way of applying sealant is to use a silicone gun. Simply pull back or press down the gun’s release and pull back the pressure valve. This will allow you to load the silicone tube nearly into the gun.
- Next, insert the rube into the gun and push the pressure valve into the bottom of the sealant tube and adjust appropriately.
- When you’re ready to apply the sealant and have prepped the area (by cleaning away any excess material like moisture, dust, or debris), carefully snip the tube at a 45-degree angle close to the tip of the sealant.
- It’s always best to test out the sealant and the gun on a test area so you can get an idea of the viscosity of the sealant and ensure you’ve picked the right colour.
- When ready, simply squeeze the trigger steadily and drag the nozzle of the tube across the seam of the area you’re targeting.
