Above Ground Drainage FAQs
Posted on 26 July, 2021
When addressing drainage issues and exploring solutions, it’s best to know exactly what you can and can’t do, as well as which products are best suited to the job at hand.
To help, the BC Profiles experts have answered your FAQs on above-ground drainage below.
Can underground drainage be used above ground?
In the right setting, an underground drainage pipe or underground drainage system can be used above ground.
However, as underground drainage is not UV stabilised, it cannot be exposed to light or heat. With this in mind as well as the bulkier size of underground drainage, it’s advised that you use the appropriate and specifically designed above ground drainage.
Can you use brown pipe above ground?
Similarly to the case with using underground drainage above ground, brown soil pipes are intended for underground usage and therefore are not UV stabilised, making them unsuitable for exposure to light and heat.
Instead, you should use a UV stabilised pipe, such as a grey pipe.
