If you’re unfamiliar with the properties of Blue Grit, now is the time to get to know them. This grip-based solution is a nifty way to aid your resurfacing or repair projects, so if you’re eager to find out more look no further than BC Profile’s breakdown of Blue Grit FAQs.

What is Blue Grit used for?

Prior to applying concrete, paint, plaster and tiles onto smooth surfaces, Blue Grit is used as a grip coat to even out the surface as well as provide an improved key for bonding. This helps the following materials adhere to the surface and ensures that the application is strong and has longevity.

Is Blue Grit better than PVA?

Alternative bonding agents are available, such as PVA Bond, which can be used for bonding thanks to its inherent adhesive properties. Blue Grit is equipped with a fine aggregate, composed of sand and crushed stone, meaning it is well cut out for enhanced grip. Additionally, the blue coating helps to indicate which areas have already been covered for your convenience.

How long can you leave blue grit before plastering?

Blue grit generally takes around 24 hours to dry, however, the drying time can vary depending on the environment that the application is taking place in. It may take longer in lower temperatures than it would in higher temperatures.  You should only need to apply one coat, so once it has dried it you are good to go!
