What is Everbuild Powder?

The 208 Powder Mortar Tone is a product supplied by renowned company Everbuild , the powder has been formulated from high-quality oxide pigments and is designed for colouring various types of mortars, rendering, concrete and pointing. 

How does it work?

The pigments within the powder disperse into the mix contained within the container to give a uniform shade for each batch that is available to purchase. You can even adjust the dose to provide a wider variety of colour depths for the colour and shade that you desire your subject to be. 

What are the benefits of using Powder Tone?

The benefits of using a product from this range include:

• The powder improves the trowelability of the mortar due to the fact that it contains plasticisers
• Chloride-free so that bleeding and segregation is reduced
• Conforms to the European Standard EN 12878 for the use of colouring in building materials
• The pigment powder permanently colours any cement-based products you use it on

How to apply Powder Mortar Tone

In order to apply the product, the concrete surface must first be free from all debris such as dust and loose materials and has enough mechanical strength. If you’re applying it to a wall, wire-brush it first and ensure that any old paint has been removed. 

Next, add the Everbuild 208 Powder Mortar Tone to the dry cement, sand and aggregate before adding any water. Mix it well until colour is dispersed then add required liquids. Add at a rate up to 8% by weight of cement. Do not exceed this amount. The colour of the sand and cement will affect the colour achieved. To obtain pastel colours, use white cement in the mix.

Limitations of the product

• Do not use more than 8% on weight of cement. This will reduce the strength of the mix.
• Always use same batches of cement and sand - this will avoid any colour differences showing through in large areas e.g. external renders.
• Do not use in conjunction with lime
• Care must be taken when using any other plasticising admix as the mix strength can be reduced.
